Hotel Vécsecity

Is a website really that important for a hotel?

Short answer: Yes.
A hotel’s online presence is not about aesthetics – it’s a business decision. Today, guests almost exclusively gather information online. If we can’t convince them there, they won’t book – even if the place would otherwise be perfect for them.

Hotel Vécsecity is a countryside hotel that’s both elegant and welcoming. The owner came to us with a clear challenge: while guests were happy on-site and often returned or recommended it, new bookings were still not coming in as expected. The rooms were clean, the staff friendly, the surroundings idyllic. The problem wasn’t with the service – but with the website failing to reflect this quality.

Challenge

The website didn’t reflect what the hotel stood for

In person, Hotel Vécsecity made a great impression: peaceful surroundings, helpful staff, modern and bright rooms. But its online presence told a very different story. The old website—with ornate typography, a vintage color palette, and an overly romantic tone—gave the impression of a historic castle hotel. In reality, the hotel’s style is refined, understated, and contemporary.

That visual mismatch misled visitors within seconds. Some never made it to the booking stage because the site didn’t feel relevant to them—even though they were the ideal guests. Others arrived expecting something entirely different and left disappointed.

The content didn’t help either. The copy was overwritten, repetitive, and lacked clear structure. Offers were buried under information overload, and the loyalty program—which was actually a strong value add—was nearly invisible.

The booking process sent users to a separate page, lagged on mobile, and failed to provide clear feedback on whether each step was completed successfully. As a result, many visitors dropped off mid-process.

And behind the scenes, the team struggled too. The admin interface was clunky and unclear, and even small changes required developer support. This wasn’t just time-consuming and expensive—it also meant the hotel couldn’t respond quickly with seasonal offers or timely updates.

In the end, the website wasn’t supporting the business—it was holding it back.

Approach

Not just a new website – a new first impression

Our starting point was clear: Hotel Vécsecity hadn’t lost its quality over the years—its online presence simply hadn’t kept up.

So our goal wasn’t to create a prettier version of the old site.

It was to design a digital experience that truly reflected the hotel: warm, elegant, minimal—and above all, easy to use.

The project didn’t start with design. It started with strategy.

Through workshops and interviews, we explored:

  • what makes the hotel truly valuable and worth highlighting;
  • which tone and style resonate most with its ideal guests;
  • and which features genuinely support the booking journey.

We set out to turn every former pain point—visual inconsistency, messy content structure, frustrating booking flows, limited admin access—into an advantage.

The result: a platform that brings the hotel’s character, offers, and flexibility to life at first glance.

We didn’t just think about attracting new guests.

We also wanted returning guests to feel recognized and valued. That’s why we gave the once-hidden loyalty program the visibility it deserved.

And in the background, we built an admin system that puts the hotel team back in control. No more waiting on developers for every update.

They can now make changes quickly and easily—without compromise.

The hotel already delivers an exceptional experience in real life.

Our job was to make sure it does the same online.

Step by step, we brought the hotel’s website to life

At the start of the project, the owner wasn’t afraid the site wouldn’t look good—he was afraid of going through the same exhausting, jargon-filled, deadline-slipping development process all over again.

He’d been there before, and he didn’t want to figure everything out on his own this time. He needed a team that wouldn’t just build the site—but would think it through with him.

That’s exactly what we committed to. And we worked in that spirit from day one.

1. Discovery & strategy workshop

We didn’t jump into development right away. We began by getting to know the hotel, the guest feedback, the business goals—and how the old website worked (or didn’t).

In our workshop, we didn’t just ask questions about web features.

We focused on how to build long-term guest loyalty, and what truly sets Vécsecity apart from other places to stay.

2. New brand direction & content structure

When redesigning the visuals, our aim wasn’t flash—it was clarity with character.

We highlighted the hotel’s clean elegance and peaceful, nature-connected atmosphere. And we made sure that feeling came through not just in photos and colors, but also in the tone of the text.

We replaced long-winded, repetitive copy with concise, readable content.

Offers were grouped by theme, with clear focus on family packages, wellness weekends, and corporate events—so visitors could quickly find what speaks to them.

3. Mobile-friendly, seamless booking flow

We knew mobile visitors had struggled before.

So we created a booking flow that works perfectly on mobile—clear, fast, and friction-free.

A fixed-position "Book now" button is available on every page. The form loads quickly, and every step gives reassuring feedback.

Drop-offs are now minimal—and we can measure exactly where (if anywhere) people leave the process.

4. Easy-to-manage admin interface

Previously, even the smallest content update required a developer.

We changed that by building a clear, logical admin system that the hotel team can manage on their own—updating offers, texts, and photos without outside help.

This gives them full flexibility—especially when reacting to seasonal deals or last-minute opportunities.

5. Built-in measurement and optimization

A website that works is good.

A website that shows you how it works is even better.

We integrated custom tracking into the booking system, so now the hotel can see exactly which campaigns drive results.

This enables smarter marketing decisions—and avoids wasted ad spend.

Throughout the entire project, the owner didn’t need to deal with technical details.

We ran weekly check-ins, presented each new milestone, clearly identified decision points—and always explained what was happening, why it mattered, and when it would be done.

Our goal was never “just a website.”

It was to deliver a platform that frees up the client and supports their everyday work.

Outcome

The website no longer gets in the way - it finally supports bookings the way it should.

The new site launched in July 2024 after thorough testing—and its impact was felt almost immediately.

Now, what visitors see online matches what they actually experience. No more confusion, no need for extra explanations, and no more “this isn’t for me” moments. The design and content finally speak to the right people, in the right tone.

The booking experience has improved dramatically. Thanks to a smoother, mobile-optimized process, fewer users drop off mid-flow, and bookings have increased—without the hotel needing to run any additional campaigns.

And the hotel team? They’re back in control. They can update offers, edit text, upload new images—all without calling a developer. They can see exactly where bookings are coming from, in a clear and understandable way.

So this wasn’t just a visual upgrade. The new website is now a business tool—one that doesn’t just sit there, but actively contributes to the hotel’s success.
